MY TESTIMONY – IN THE BEGINNING

(Excerpted chapter from Robyn’s manuscript, “The Open Door”)

IN THE BEGINNING

In 1986, as I was reading the Word of God, the following scripture seemed to jump off the page at me:

“These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, HE THAT HATH THE KEY OF DAVID, HE THAT OPENETH, AND NO MAN SHUTTETH; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

I know thy works:  behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it:  for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.”  (Rev. 3:7-9).

When a scripture “jumps” at you, it is a living, breathing word from God to you.  We call this a “rhema” (pronounced ray-ma) word of God.  You can be sure that God is communicating directly to you when this happens.

This rhema explains my whole life, especially my salvation and commissioning as a psalmist.

The Key of David – a gift a congregation in Richmond, VA bestowed on me.

I used to hear the “inner voice” of God.  These days, I hear the still, small voice.  But, prior to 1983, I used to hear a literal voice giving me instructions.  It sounded loud, but not deafening.  I always knew, somehow, that it was God.  As a Jew, I had a physical covenant with God and talked to Him quite often.  I just didn’t know Him as Father, nor did I recognize that He had a Son.

In July, 1983, that inner voice of God went off around my ears and said, “Go to East Tennessee.”  I did.  For six weeks prior to this trip, I had been having dizzy spells.  I was experiencing what I thought were neurological problems.  I couldn’t follow TV storylines.  People would have conversations with me and I couldn’t tell you what they had said.  I was even getting afraid to drive.  In retrospect, satan was “doing a dance” with me because he knew my salvation was near.  When I got to East Tennessee, the couple I was visiting weren’t home, so I sat down on a picnic table to wait for them.  I began to get dizzy again.

I looked off to my left and saw the strangest sight.  There was a “man” there.  He looked real, but he had on a brown and white ribbed fur coat (it was 90 degrees outside), was holding a shepherd’s staff, and had a silver metal Viking-type hat on.  Just as I was getting over the shock of seeing him, I looked back straight in front of me at a huge tree in the front yard of the home of the people I was visiting.  Suspended in mid-air in the tree was another man.  Only this man was 8 FEET TALL!  He had brown hair, a brown robe, a white belt around his middle, and brown sandals on.  His feet were about 5 feet off the ground.  He looked REAL.  Not like a ghost vision or something you can see through.  REAL.

This man didn’t have a face.  He had flesh, but no face.  I looked at him in amazement.  He started TOWARD ME.  His walk became faster and faster till He walked through me – like a whirlwind going through me – that quickly.  The greatest sensation of peace I have ever known flooded my being, and I knew something major had happened.  I didn’t say a word to anyone till the next day.

The next day, I told the wife of the couple I was visiting what had happened.  The hair on her arms stood up.  She told me I was under conviction, and asked me to promise to go to a church when I got back to Nashville and find out what had happened to me.  I said yes.  I saw a Bible on her coffee table.  Suddenly, all I wanted to do was read it.  I had never read the Bible.  Unbelievable for a Jew, huh?  You may be amazed to know that most Reform Jews don’t know what is in the Word of God at all.  They know the stories of the Old Testament because they learn them in Sunday School, but they don’t know the Word.

This was a radical promise for a Jew to make.  When I went home, I had a week in which to find a church for that next Sunday.  I had been working with a friend of mine who invited me to go to his Church of God, and I went.  The first thing out of that pastor’s mouth was about the salvation of the Jews.  People were speaking a strange language, and I thought the whole thing was neat.  Needless to say, the rest is history.  I got born again that day, and finally knew what had happened to me in East Tennessee.  I was baptized in the Holy Spirit two months later.

Oh, by the way, it took awhile, but I came to know why I saw the “Viking” man before I saw the Lord.  Once, as I was giving my testimony at a Full Gospel Businessmen’s meeting in Nashville, a man approached me and told me that the Lord had spoken to him that the “Viking” man was also the Lord, but he was the Lord I had frozen out of my life.  The 8-foot tall man was the new relationship (8 is the Biblical number of new beginnings).  God also revealed why He had appeared to me with no face.  You see, He met me where I was at (He’s so good at doing that).  Jews believe, as in the story of Moses, that you can’t see God’s face and live  (Ex. 33:20).  Since I didn’t know Jesus was God at the time, He appeared to me with no face.  Isn’t He good?

My salvation was extremely traumatic.  It was like everything even looked different.  I wasn’t seeking God – He was seeking me.  He came down, literally, to get me.  If He has a call on your life, He’ll do the same for you.  It might manifest in a different way, but He will make Himself known to you.

Jesus, who is the door (John 10:7), came through the Open Door in the heavenlies to get me.  He came from the Spirit realm into the physical realm, so I would see Him. I believe the reason He did that is primarily because of His love for me, but also because He wanted to give me the “Key of David” (Rev. 3:7) for use in His kingdom.  The “Key of David,” in my opinion, is a heart open to prophetic worship and psalming, and a heart quick to repent.

Whether they realized it or not, the people of Israel continually spoke forth God’s prophecies concerning the coming Messiah when they sang the Psalms of David.  It was the repeated singing of the prophetic psalms in worship that, I believe, birthed in the Spirit the actual physical birthing of Jesus in the earth as a man.  Just as the people of Israel sang prophetically in King David’s time (and even before that), we are called to worship and intercede prophetically to birth the Second Coming of our Lord.  The psalmist is called to lead this procession in the Spirit.  (Ps. 68:24-25).

In my particular case, being a Jewish believer in the Body of Christ, I have a specific call to be a psalmist in order to evangelize those “of the synagogue of Satan which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.”  You see, prophetic worship and psalming will lead the unbelievers to Christ, the unbelieving Hebrews/Levites/Jews to their Messiah. We have to be VERY careful in these End-Times to not lump all Jewish people in one basket. Those of the “synagogue of Satan,” are NOT really Jews. They are people who pretended to be Jewish for greed or business reasons. They are Khazarians (from eastern Europe), Gnostics and Freemasons. These people can and will be dealt with by the Lord, and our prayer has to be for whomever among them that CAN be saved, TO BE saved. We are now, in 2020, in the midst of the “Great Awakening” and the people are waking up to the truth about the real war going on between good and evil. Believers vs. Luciferians. The music the Lord gives me can be used in spiritual warfare in battles against these entities.

All psalmists are prophetic evangelists, whether they know it or not, and are called to the Great Commission of Mark 16.  When the psalmist ministers, healing and deliverance will manifest.  These signs and wonders will draw the unbeliever to the Lord. This music can also get people delivered from demonic strongholds on the spot.

I learned around 1995 that my family was actually booted from Spain during the Inquisition in 1492. The surname of my family was LEVY. Technically, I am a Levite. “Jews” are Biblically only those of 2 tribes: Judah and Benjamin. There were 12 tribes, and 10 made up the Northern Kingdom. The Southern Kingdom – i.e., Judah – and its inhabitants – Jews – somehow became the name by which all Israelis were called. But truthfully – all Israelis are not descended from just Judah and Benjamin. Only the Lord truly knows who is who after generations of lost and destroyed records. The Lord wanted me to know my genealogy, and I was blessed to find out that I am an actual Levy -Levite – through both of my paternal grandparents. My grandfather, from the Levy lineage, married a woman whose maiden name was Levy. Therefore, I am doubly a Levite.

Bottom to top: My Dad, Roy, my sister, Karen, & me, circa 2008

This call on my life to my fellow Hebrews/Levites/Jews has not come to fullness yet.  I am still ministering within the confines of the church – mostly to believers and unsaved Gentiles.  But, God will open doors later for Hebraic/Jewish evangelism.  He said that we are to minister first in Jerusalem, then to Judea and Samaria, and then to the uttermost parts of the world.  (Acts 1:8). Next in human history – prophetically as I see it – is a move called the End-Time Harvest. I have always known that the Lord was saving me for the end move, and I’ve had to learn to wait very patiently.

Where I got the music gene
from – my Dad!!

The Lord has spent years training me up as a psalmist.  I have played piano for over 60 years.  That talent goes back generations in my family.  However, I am the first psalmist.  Praise God for that!

I pray that what God has given me to share with you will bring clarity to your lives, and challenge and inspire you.  The time has come.
